French International Education (IE) Program

CML offers a French IE Program where students learn to speak, read, and write in French. The French IE Program exposes students to literature, mathematics, social studies, and science in French. Students in the program have an extended school day. In Kindergarten and 1st grade students attend school from 8:35 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. In 2nd -5th grades, students attend school from 8:35 a.m. to 4:05 p.m. On Wednesdays, students are released an hour earlier. CML students are recognized nationally for their achievements in the French National Contest with over 50 winners annually.

Spanish International Education (IE) Program

Our International Education (IE) Program immerses students in a multicultural curriculum which places emphasis on learning Spanish as a second language. Students are exposed to challenging dual language instruction uniquely designed to provide a cross-cultural program of study. Students learn authentic language patterns and concepts through hands-on experiences and project-based activities. Students in the program have an extended school day. In Kindergarten and 1st grade students attend school from 8:35 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.  In 2nd-5th grade, students attend school from 8:35 a.m. to 4:05 p.m.  On Wednesdays, students are released an hour earlier.

Spanish International Studies (IS) Program

The Spanish International Studies Program is an advanced and rigorous second language program. Students participating in the IS program follow the official curriculum of Spain and traditional Florida state standards and benchmarks. The agreement between the government of Spain and M-DCPS ensures Spain’s educational requirements are reflected and implemented in the Spanish IS language curriculum.  Students in the program have an extended school day. In Kindergarten and 1st grade students attend school from 8:35 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.  In 2nd-5th grade, students attend school from 8:35 a.m. to 4:05 p.m.  On Wednesdays, students are released an hour earlier.

Full-Time Gifted Program

The school’s full-time Gifted program prepares students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in an interconnected world. Intrinsic learning occurs via a plethora of interdisciplinary projects, emphasizing critical thinking, peer collaboration, student self-led discovery, and traditional teacher lead instruction. The Gifted program curriculum is designed around themes that facilitate concept integration and cross-curricular learning, igniting young talented students’ imagination.

Clubs and Activities

Music-In addition to award winning foreign language program, CML is very well known for its exceptional music program and Troubadours band. The chorus sings music from many countries in five different languages while the drumline shares its upbeat spirit during special celebrations and community activities. 

Chess– It’s not surprising that our school’s chess team brings home many honors. The chess club practices before school Monday-Friday. The rigorous workout chess gives the brain prepares the students to improve their performance in the classroom and standardized tests
